The definitions of various rates are given below.” The age of fertility is generally taken as 15 to 49 years. However, some people prefer to regard the fertile period as 15 to 45 years.

🔺Total fertility rate (TFR) Average number of children that would be born to a woman if she experiences the current fertility pattern throughout her reproductive
span (15-49 years).

🔺Total marital fertility rate (TMFR):
Average number of children that would be born to a married woman if she experiences the current fertility pattern throughout her reproductive span, i.e. 15 to 49 years. (The TFR
serves an estimate of the average number of children per family).

Average number of daughters that would be born to a woman if she experiences the current fertility pattern throughout her reproductive span (15-49 years).

🔺Net production rate (NR):

Average number of daughters that would be born to a woman if she

reproductive span (15-49 years).

Number of live births in a year to 1000 women in any specified age group.

🔺Age-specific marital fertility rate:

Number of live births in a year to 1000 married women in any specified
